On the evening of New Year’s Day 2018, shots were reported in the 100 block of Taylor Street in Orange, New Jersey. Officers arriving at about 7 p.m. found two men with gunshot wounds. Randall Price, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:44 p.m. Rodney Chery, 41 and also an Orange resident, was alive but critically injured and taken to University Hospital in Newark for emergency surgery. Chery died there that same night and was pronounced dead at 10:40 p.m.

The Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force opened an active investigation into the double homicide. As of the last available update, there have been no public announcements of arrests or identified suspects in the deaths of Rodney Chery and Randall Price.
