In the early morning of July 26, 2017, two young men were found dead in a running white Acura stopped in the intersection of Dolsie Grove Drive and Pohick Road in Lorton, Virginia. A neighbor on the way to work discovered the vehicle shortly after 3:30 a.m.; both victims had suffered trauma to their upper bodies. They were identified as 20-year-old Ryan Cross and 19-year-old Gregory Dennis, both from Dumfries.
Detectives quickly developed a drug-related motive for the double homicide. Within days the investigation zeroed in on a single suspect, 21-year-old Kelsey Jordan McCrimmon of Lorton. McCrimmon was arrested July 31, 2017, initially on an unrelated July 2 armed-robbery allegation; prosecutors then authorized felony warrants charging him with two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Cross and Dennis. Further specifics about the transaction that led to the killings have not been publicly detailed.
Did anyone in the Dumfries or Lorton area have information about Ryan Cross’s movements or contacts in late July 2017?
