Eugene LaQuan Jones, 20, was shot in Martinsville, Virginia, on the evening of Sunday, November 17, 2013. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later transferred to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries on Monday, November 18, 2013. Jones, born March 22, 1993, worked in the warehouse of DDI and was remembered by family and friends in the community.

Police identified a suspect, Shadeed Rai’heem Heemie Hairston, in connection with the shooting. Motive and the specific circumstances that led to the fatal shooting remained part of the active investigation.
