In the autumn of 2021, the life of a Kansas City teenager was tragically cut short. Michael K. Parks, a 17-year-old Black / African American male, was found fatally shot on the evening of October 13, 2021. The incident occurred just after 9 p.m. near the intersection of 37th Street and Wayne Avenue in the Ivanhoe neighborhood. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Michael in the street, having already succumbed to a gunshot wound.
