On Sunday, June 20, 2021, the quiet of the Bevo Mill neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri, was broken by the discovery of a mortally wounded man. Police officers were called to the 4200 block of Ellenwood Avenue, where they found forty-one-year-old Brian Gardner Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds to his torso. The incident occurred a short distance from where Gardner lived, as he was a resident of the 4500 block of Gravois Avenue.
