On May 17, 2020, a violent altercation took place in the early morning hours outside a convenience store in the Blue Summit area near Kansas City, Missouri, resulting in the death of 36-year-old Jason Juszczyk. The incident occurred shortly before 2:00 a.m. at the Truman Mart gas station located at 8301 East Truman Road. Juszczyk, a male resident of Independence, was at the location when he became involved in a heated argument with a teenager outside the business.
