In the summer of 2014, Lamandras Sandford, a 38-year-old African-American man, became a victim of the increasing violence plaguing the city of Saint-Louis, Missouri. On July 16th, his life was cut short by multiple gunshot wounds in what was determined to be a homicide. The Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department immediately launched an investigation into his death, which occurred in a neighborhood already grappling with a surge in violent crime.
