In the late afternoon of August 18, 2022, a verbal dispute inside the bustling food court of the Mall at Prince George's in Hyattsville, Maryland, tragically escalated, ending the life of 20-year-old Darrion Herring. The Hyattsville resident was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities who responded to the shooting at approximately 4 p.m. Police quickly stated that they did not believe the shooting was a random act.
