On the evening of September 8, 2020, tragedy struck in the Milton-Montford neighborhood of East Baltimore. Shaheed Carter, a 37-year-old Black male, was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound in the 700 block of North Rose Street. The call reporting the shooting came in just after 7:30 p.m., a time when daylight was fading and the city was experiencing a significant increase in gun violence.
