In the early evening of what was reportedly the first of June in 2017, a sense of unease settled over the 1800 block of Fox Street in Adelphi, Maryland. It was here that the life of 19-year-old Hispanic male, William Canales, was tragically cut short. Police were called to the scene around 6:40 p.m. following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Canales suffering from a gunshot wound to his body.
