On a spring evening in Clinton, Maryland, the life of 22-year-old Carl Patrick Marshall was cut short by a single gunshot. It was April 16, 2016, and Marshall was attending a cookout in the 5300 block of Vienna Drive. The gathering, however, would end in tragedy. For reasons that remain unclear, another man, 25-year-old Antonio Barnett of Waldorf, opened fire, fatally wounding Marshall.
