On the evening of June 2, 2009, 19-year-old Shai Roxanne Caldwell was attending a high school graduation party on Continental Place in Landover, Maryland. An altercation broke out at the celebration, leading to a burst of gunfire. Caldwell, who was not the intended target, was struck by the gunfire and was found lying between two parked cars.
