On a tragic day in June of 2006, Stephanie Marie King-Sperling, a 34-year-old mother, was found dead in her Upper Marlboro, Maryland, home. A graduate of the University of Maryland and a financial analyst at the Securities and Exchange Commission, she was described by her family as beautiful, caring, and hardworking. Her life, however, was cut short in what police investigated as a devastating murder-suicide.
