On the evening of Sunday, September 13, 2015, Danell Moses, a 36-year-old Black man, was shot and killed in a New Orleans East mobile home park. The incident occurred around 6:35 p.m. in the 14000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.
Responding officers from the New Orleans Police Department found Mr. Moses lying on the grass between two of the mobile homes. He had been fatally shot. When police spoke with people in the area, they learned that nearby residents had heard the gunfire but did not call for help. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later officially identified the victim and confirmed his death was a homicide caused by the shooting.
NOPD homicide detective Theo Kent was assigned to investigate the killing.
However, no suspects were publicly identified, and no arrests were announced in the case.
