On April 25, 2022, Stepan Hambartsumyan, a 37-year-old resident of Fresno, California, was tragically shot and killed. The incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. at an apartment complex located near Palm and Sierra avenues in northwest Fresno. According to reports, Hambartsumyan was visiting a tenant at the apartment when three individuals entered the premises. An argument ensued between Hambartsumyan and one of the intruders, identified as 23-year-old Anthony Tashchian.
During the altercation, Tashchian, who was armed with a gun, shot Hambartsumyan in the upper torso, resulting in his immediate death at the scene.
The Fresno Police Department responded to the scene following a report of an argument and subsequent gunshot. Upon arrival, officers discovered Hambartsumyan's lifeless body and initiated an investigation. Detectives quickly identified Tashchian as the primary suspect in the shooting.
