Jamani Ethan Campbell, a 29-year-old resident of Santa Rosa, California, tragically passed away on September 18, 2020. His death was a result of a gunshot wound, and he was found unconscious and not breathing at the rear of a business on College Avenue by a security guard. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The Santa Rosa Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation, seeking public assistance to gather information related to the case.
The
investigation led to the identification of Kirk Williams, a 43-year-old resident of Santa Rosa, as a person of interest. On October 1, 2020, detectives served a search warrant at Williams' home, where he was arrested on outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants related to domestic violence. While Williams was in custody, detectives continued to gather witness statements and physical evidence, which eventually established probable cause to charge him with the murder of Jamani Campbell. Williams was formally arrested for the murder on October 7, 2020.
The case remains under investigation, with the Santa Rosa Police Department encouraging anyone with information to come forward. A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Sonoma County Alliance for information leading to the resolution of the case. The community and Campbell's family continue to seek justice for his untimely death.
