Faustino Mayares Ayona, a 30-year-old resident of Perris, California, tragically lost his life on February 16, 2020. The incident occurred in the unincorporated community of Good Hope, west of Perris. Authorities responded to reports of gunfire around 4 p.m. and discovered Faustino Mayares Ayona deceased at the scene. Another man, who was also shot, was found wounded and subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where he was expected to survive.

The gunman had fled the scene by the time deputies arrived, prompting a search for the suspect. This tragic event was part of a series of violent incidents in the region. Just days before, on February 12, 2020, 25-year-old Jose Eduardo Bellozo was fatally shot at Paragon Park in Perris. Additionally, on February 2, 2020, 21-year-old Gelder Funes-Lopez was also shot and killed. Authorities were investigating whether these homicides were connected to the deaths of three other men whose bodies were found near grave sites in a Perris cemetery.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, no arrests have been reported in connection with the death of Faustino Mayares Ayona. The investigation remains ongoing, with detectives continuing to seek leads and gather evidence to bring those responsible to justice.
