Kjell Rasten, the husband of singer and actress Charo, tragically passed away on February 18, 2019, at the age of 78 in Beverly Hills, California. His death was ruled a suicide by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office. Rasten had been suffering from a rare and debilitating skin condition known as bullous pemphigoid, which causes large, fluid-filled blisters. This condition, coupled with the side effects of the numerous medications he was taking, led to severe depression.
According to Charo, Rasten's health had been declining for some time, and the combination of his illness and depression ultimately became too much for him to bear.
On the day of his death, Beverly Hills Police and Fire personnel responded to a 911 call at the couple's home. They found Rasten with life-threatening injuries from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
