In the early morning hours of Friday, August 13, 2010, the life of 42-year-old Nelson Booker, an African American man, was tragically cut short in New Orleans, Louisiana. Around 5 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of South Liberty and Terpsichore streets. Arriving at the scene, officers discovered Booker lying wounded between a stop sign and a light pole in front of a green shotgun-style house. He had been shot and was bleeding from his injuries.
