Franklin Bamba Atoigue, a 46-year-old Pacific Islander, tragically lost his life on October 6, 2017, in Carson, California. Atoigue was visiting friends and spending time in a garage when an unknown assailant knocked on the door at approximately 5:35 a.m. Upon opening the door, Atoigue was shot in the torso by the individual outside. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead at 7:11 a.m.
The shooter fled the scene on foot, and investigators have not identified a suspect or established a motive for the shooting. The incident does not appear to be gang-related.
Atoigue was born in Guam and moved to California with his family in 1981. He returned to California in 2017 to marry his high school sweetheart, Mitchie Valenzuela. The couple resided in Long Beach, where Atoigue worked in construction. He was known for his joyful and protective nature, especially towards his son Bryan, step-children, and numerous nieces and nephews. His death left a significant void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
The investigation into Atoigue's murder remains open, with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department urging anyone with information to come forward. Despite the lack of leads, authorities continue to seek justice for Atoigue and his family. No arrests have been made, and the case has not seen any significant developments or litigations since the incident.
