Denise Berry, a 44-year-old woman from Hawthorne, California, tragically lost her life on April 1, 2015, in a shooting incident. On that fateful day, Denise was driving her gray Mercedes with her 12-year-old son to a barbershop. At an intersection, they encountered a Cadillac sedan driven by Stanley White, accompanied by his uncle, Robert Washington, and another man.
Denise's son pointed out Washington's feet hanging out of the Cadillac's passenger window, and they shared a laugh before continuing on their way. However, White followed their vehicle, prompting Denise to pull over and seek help from a nearby Hawthorne police officer.
As Denise attempted to get back into her car, White pulled alongside her vehicle, and Washington exited the Cadillac, opening fire.
