Michael Richard Arruda, a 35-year-old deputy sheriff with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, tragically lost his life on June 15, 2004, following a critical incident that occurred on June 9, 2004, in Hacienda Heights, California. On that fateful evening, Deputy Arruda and three other deputies responded to a distress call at a Motel 6, where reports indicated that an individual was firing shots and threatening people.
