Ralph Maple, a 27-year-old officer with the Colton Police Department in California, tragically lost his life on September 16, 1916. Officer Maple was responding to a report of an intoxicated individual causing a disturbance at the Santa Fe Depot. The suspect, who was armed and threatening others, was identified as Fred Watts.
