On the night of October 29, 2022, Domingo D. Mendez, a 41-year-old Hispanic man, was fatally shot in Bradenton, Florida. The incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. in the 2200-block of 9th St. W., shortly after Mendez left the La Barkania Bar and Restaurant. Responding officers found Mendez with severe injuries, and he was transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert.
Despite medical efforts, Mendez succumbed to his injuries on October 31, 2022.
The Bradenton Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. Detectives determined that Mendez had left the bar just before the shooting. The investigation led to the arrest of Mario R. Alba-Reyes, a 26-year-old man, on November 4, 2022. Alba-Reyes was charged with Second Degree Murder with a firearm in connection with the death of Domingo D. Mendez.
The case remains active, with the Bradenton Police Department urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
