Wilfredo Allende Jr., a 21-year-old man, tragically lost his life in a fatal shooting at Rossi Park along the Bradenton Riverwalk in the early hours of March 30, 2025. The incident occurred around 4:07 a.m. when dispatchers received reports of gunfire at the park. Upon arrival, officers discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately rendered aid. Emergency medical services transported the victims to nearby hospitals, where Allende Jr.
succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation between two groups that escalated into violence. Surveillance footage from the park reportedly captured a group of friends socializing before another group arrived, leading to a confrontation that resulted in gunfire. Investigators determined that at least two individuals exchanged shots during the incident.
Following an extensive investigation, law enforcement officials arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting. Frederick Kelly, an 18-year-old, was charged with second-degree murder with a firearm, while Jon'ques Jones, a 17-year-old, faced charges of second-degree murder with a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm. Jones was among the victims transported to the hospital, and authorities later revealed that a third party shot him in self-defense.
Kelly, who had prior felony charges as a juvenile for firearm possession and marijuana possession, appeared before a judge on March 31, 2025. He was ordered to remain in custody at the Manatee County Jail without bond. His next court appearance was scheduled for April 4, 2025.
The victim’s father, Wilfredo Allende Sr., expressed his grief and disbelief over the senseless violence that claimed his son's life. He described his son as a kind-hearted individual who was always laughing and never involved in trouble. The family has since launched a fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses.
The Bradenton Police Department continues to investigate the case, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. The tragic loss of Wilfredo Allende Jr. has left his loved ones mourning and searching for answers as they navigate the aftermath of this devastating event.
