Deon O'Neal Jenkins, a 26-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on October 12, 2019, in Palm Coast, Florida. Deon was born on November 18, 1992, and was raised in Atlanta and Palm Coast by his parents, Dr. Kenneth and Vita Davis. He was known for his love of music, fashion, drawing, and football. On the night of his death, Deon was sitting in a car with a friend, Shakir Terry, outside a Circle K convenience store at Palm Coast and Belle Terre parkways. At approximately 3:34 a.m., Marcus Avery Chamblin, armed with a Draco assault-style firearm, emerged from behind the store and opened fire on the vehicle, killing Deon and wounding Terry.

The investigation into Deon's murder was extensive, involving numerous law enforcement agencies and over 2,000 investigative hours. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office dubbed the case the "Circle K Killer" investigation. The motive behind the shooting was revealed to be anger. Chamblin's brother, Dshawn Hosang, had called him earlier that night, informing him that Deon had threatened their grandparents. This led to an argument, and Jenkins was kicked out of the house. Chamblin, enraged by the situation, declared his intent to kill Deon and carried out the attack shortly after.

Marcus Avery Chamblin, 29, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder with a firearm, attempted second-degree murder with a firearm, and shooting into an occupied vehicle. He was found guilty on all charges and sentenced to life in prison for the first-degree murder charge, with additional consecutive sentences for the other charges. Chamblin's accomplice, Derrius Braxton Bauer, who drove Chamblin to and from the scene, was also charged and is awaiting trial. The case was one of the most significant investigations in the history of the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, highlighting the dedication and collaboration of law enforcement to bring justice for Deon O'Neal Jenkins and his family.
