Sean P. Henry, a 25-year-old male from Jupiter, FL, tragically lost his life on February 5, 2017, in a triple homicide that shocked the local community. Sean, who was an active member of the Jupiter First Church and had recently returned from a mission trip in Haiti, was known for his kind and non-confrontational nature. On the night of the incident, Sean, along with Brandi El-Salhy, 24, and Kelli Doherty, 20, were gathered around a backyard fire pit at a rented home on Mohawk Street in Jupiter
River Estates when they were fatally shot. The gunfire also wounded Charles Vorpagel, the home's renter.
The investigation into the murders revealed that disputes over drug sales, turf, and debts were the likely motives behind the attack. Two men, Christopher Vasata and Marcus Steward, were identified as the primary suspects. Vasata was found guilty on three counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder in 2019 and was sentenced to life in prison. Steward, who was also charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder, initially faced competency issues but was later found competent to stand trial. DNA evidence recovered near a stolen vehicle belonging to Sean Henry connected Steward to the murders.
The case has seen significant legal proceedings, including a grand jury indictment and motions regarding Steward's competency. Despite the challenges, the legal system has continued to pursue justice for Sean Henry and the other victims. The community remains deeply affected by the loss of these young lives, and memorial services have been held to honor their memories.
