In the midst of a particularly violent year for Baltimore, the life of 47-year-old Byron Dionne Showell, a Black male, was cut short. On the night of May 2, 2015, at approximately 11:36 p.m., Showell was fatally shot in the 2800 block of Silver Hill Avenue. His death was one of several shootings that plagued the city that day, contributing to what would become one of Baltimore's highest annual homicide rates in recent history.
