Makayla Dennard, a 15-year-old African American girl from Riviera Beach, Florida, tragically lost her life on December 23, 2016. She was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting while sitting in a vehicle on West 36th Street in Riviera Beach, just days before Christmas. The incident also resulted in the wounding of her cousin, Nikobra Stringer, who was 20 years old at the time. Makayla succumbed to her injuries two days later, on December 25, 2016.
