Amirra Jacques, a 4-year-old African American girl from Riviera Beach, Florida, tragically died on September 18, 2016. The incident occurred when Amirra found a gun on the bottom bunk of a bed in her home. The firearm discharged, resulting in a fatal shot to her head. Following Amirra's death, two individuals were arrested in connection with the incident.
Nathaniel Lowe, a 25-year-old male, was charged with multiple offenses, including Culpable Negligence (Firearm/Minor), Tampering with Evidence, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Grand Theft Firearm. Lowe, who had a history of six felony convictions and was on probation until 2018, was ordered to have no contact with minors, including his co-defendant, and the victim's family. His bond was set at $150,000.
Additionally, a 16-year-old juvenile was also charged with Culpable Negligence (Firearm/Minor), Tampering with Evidence, Perjury (Not Official Proceedings), and Grand Theft Firearm. Initially, Lowe claimed that an unidentified person had entered the home and fired the shot that killed Amirra. However, further investigation revealed that the juvenile had disposed of the gun after the shooting. The police later recovered the firearm two streets away from the scene.
