Deputies responded to a call of shots fired and discovered Myers' body in the parking lot. The investigation into his death spanned several states and involved numerous interviews.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested five individuals in connection with Myers' murder.
Max Herard, 21, Christopher Perez, 22, and Michael Stanley, 22, were among the first to be apprehended. Herard and Perez faced charges of second-degree murder with a firearm, shooting into an occupied vehicle, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and conspiracy to shoot into an occupied dwelling. Stanley was charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling and conspiracy to shoot into an occupied dwelling. Santos Robles, 20, was later arrested and charged with second-degree murder with a firearm, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and conspiracy to shoot into an occupied dwelling. The fifth suspect, Medford Dejesus York III, 17, was also charged with second-degree murder with a firearm, shooting into a dwelling, shooting into an occupied conveyance, and conspiracy to shoot into a dwelling.
The investigation revealed that the suspects had conspired to shoot into the vehicle where Myers was found. The case required extensive coordination between law enforcement agencies across multiple states, including Texas and New York. The arrests were made possible through the efforts of the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Lee County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Warrants Unit. The suspects were taken into custody and faced various legal proceedings, with some remaining in custody without bail.
