Curtis Lovonius Smith, a 61-year-old African American man, tragically lost his life on June 2, 2015, in Miami Gardens, Florida. Smith, a respiratory therapist at Jackson Memorial Hospital, was fatally shot while mowing his lawn in front of his home. The incident occurred in the 17600 block of Northwest 14th Avenue.
