Paris Quentin Matthews, a 32-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on April 29, 2013, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Matthews was shot in his apartment at the Rene Lynn Apartments on Woodham Street. According to reports, two men knocked on his door around midnight. When Matthews opened the door, the men barged in and shot him in the upper body.
Despite being rushed to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, Matthews succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
The investigation into Matthews' death has been ongoing, with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office continuously seeking new leads. The suspects, described as two Black males with their faces partially covered, were last seen running on the north side of the apartment complex. Despite numerous interviews and appeals to the public for information, the identities of the suspects remain unknown.
Friends and family of Matthews have been deeply affected by his untimely death. Mandi Forest, a lifelong friend, recalled the last time she saw Matthews on the day of his death. He had visited her home to borrow a movie and promised to return later that night. Unfortunately, he never made it back. Forest described Matthews as a kind-hearted individual with a big smile, always willing to help others.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office continues to encourage anyone with information about the case to come forward. They have emphasized the importance of public assistance in solving this cold case, hoping that someone might have crucial information that could lead to a breakthrough.
