On a Friday afternoon in Athens, Georgia, the life of 19-year-old Alijah Nelson was cut short in a burst of gunfire stemming from a gang-related dispute. The fatal encounter unfolded on October 21, 2022, in the area between a Citgo gas station on Gaines School Road and a Goodwill store. Nelson, along with a fellow gang member, 27-year-old Jeffery Rice, had driven into the gas station parking lot.
