In the late afternoon of Thursday, February 24, 2022, emergency services in Statesboro, Georgia, responded to a call of shots fired at the Freedom's Landing housing complex on the Georgia Southern University campus. Upon arrival at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers from both the Statesboro Police Department and the Georgia Southern University police found 18-year-old Kelsey Terrell Parrish Jr. with a single gunshot wound.
