In the summer of 2021, the life of a young Atlanta man was tragically cut short by gun violence. Kelsey Spencer, a 25-year-old Black male, was shot on the evening of Sunday, August 1, 2021. The incident occurred at a residence in the 500 block of Whitaker Street in the Bankhead neighborhood of northwest Atlanta. When police officers arrived at the scene around 9:15 p.m., they found Spencer in critical condition. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
