In the winter of 2019, the life of 24-year-old Jaleel Merritt was cut short by an act of violence in Columbus, Georgia. On the evening of Monday, December 9th, Merritt was fatally shot on the 700 block of Center Street. The Columbus Police Department responded to the scene, and Merritt was officially pronounced dead later that night.
