In the early morning hours of October 19, 2019, the life of 21-year-old Dontavious Carter, a Black male, was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire in Atlanta's Oakland City neighborhood. Responding to a call of a person shot near the intersection of Princess Avenue and Avon Avenue, Atlanta Police officers discovered Carter's body in the street, bearing multiple gunshot wounds.
