In the summer of 2018, the Augusta, Georgia community was shaken by the senseless killing of a well-known local figure. Michael Gentry, a 60-year-old Caucasian man, was a familiar and welcome sight to many in the city. Known for his friendly demeanor, he would often be seen in his wheelchair, offering a cheerful "thumbs up" to those who passed by, earning him the affectionate nickname "Thumbs Up Mike."
