In the early morning hours of Friday, August 8, 2014, the life of 20-year-old Robert Marael Brooks was tragically cut short in Columbus, Georgia. A Black male, Brooks was found deceased inside a residence at 2940 Gleason Avenue, the victim of a fatal shooting. The Muscogee County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene shortly after police were alerted to the incident around 5 a.m. His death was quickly ruled a homicide, marking the second such case in Columbus that week.
