Mardarrius Collier, a 26-year-old Black male from Columbus, Georgia, was killed on September 10, 2023, after gunfire erupted in the 4000 block of Oates Avenue in the city’s North Highland area. Police and medics were sent to the scene at about 2:26 p.m., and when officers arrived they found Collier suffering from gunshot wounds.
