Mark Allen MacPhail Sr., a 27-year-old white male, was tragically killed on August 19, 1989, in Savannah, Georgia. Officer MacPhail was working an off-duty security job at a bus station and fast food restaurant when he responded to the cries of a homeless man who was being robbed and pistol-whipped.
