On a Wednesday in March of 1901, Columbus Police Officer William S. Elliott responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on 5th Avenue. It was a call that would tragically be his last. Upon his arrival and subsequent entry into a room within the house, Officer Elliott was immediately shot and killed by the suspect involved in the domestic dispute.
In the harrowing moments that followed, Officer Elliott's partner, who had accompanied him to the scene, was able to react swiftly.
