In the winter of 2007, a burst of gunfire shattered the cold night on Ashton Street in Southwest Baltimore, leaving a family heartbroken and a community searching for answers. On January 22nd of that year, 31-year-old David Isaiah Thomas, an African-American male, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the 2200 block of the residential street.
