In the spring of 2022, a violent encounter in New Orleans East abruptly ended the life of 26-year-old Mel Green. On the evening of May 15th, officers from the New Orleans Police Department's Seventh District were dispatched to the 5700 block of Crowder Boulevard following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival at approximately 8:17 p.m., they discovered Green suffering from a gunshot wound.
