On a Sunday evening in November 2022, the life of Melvin Lashard Williams, a 40-year-old Black male, was cut short by gunfire in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Shreveport Police Department received a call around 9:30 p.m. on November 20th, reporting a shooting in the 7100 block of Pro Street, located in the Cedar Grove neighborhood. Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered Williams with a serious gunshot wound to his upper body.
