In the bright light of a May afternoon in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, tragedy irrevocably altered the course of several lives. On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, Courtney Carlda Whitfield, a 31-year-old male, was fatally shot while on a break from his job at an IHOP restaurant on Siegen Lane.
