On April 22, 2020, the body of 34-year-old Shawn Gregory Whiteside, a white male from Bogalusa, Louisiana, was discovered by a motorist at the entrance of a rural hunting camp off Highway 1072. An investigation by the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office revealed that Whiteside had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. The witness who found the body reported seeing a vehicle speeding away from the scene, which led investigators to a residence on Denham Avenue in Bogalusa.
