In the early morning hours of October 12, 2017, Leonard Williams, a 51-year-old African American man, was diligently cleaning the parking lot of a Cousin's Food Mart on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge. Williams, who was homeless at the time, was working to tidy the area when his life was abruptly and violently cut short. He was shot multiple times in a sudden attack.
