On the warm evening of August 29, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the night on Glen Oaks Drive in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, leaving a community in mourning. Darryl Edebiri, a 31-year-old Black male, was standing outside with a group of people when the unthinkable happened. At approximately 10:05 p.m., an unknown vehicle approached the gathering, and without warning, an occupant opened fire on the group. The sudden and senseless act of violence left Edebiri with multiple gunshot wounds.
